Setting up Alexa devices to listen to

 Sunshine Radio Isle of Wight

There are four main methods which can be used to add a skill to your Amazon devices:

1.  Using your Alexa Device

2.  Adding a Skill Using your computer, PC or Laptop

3.  Adding a Skill using your Mobile Phone

4.  Adding A Skill to your Alexa device

5.  Setting up Alexa on a Windows 10 PC to run like an Alexa device

Please select the option which you would prefer from the list above.

Please note some pictures may vary to your layout due to different devices and software versions.

1. Using Your Alexa Device

There are two ways to listen to Sunshine Radio Isle of Wight on your Alexa device. The first option requires no configuration.

·       Say: “Alexa, play Sunshine Radio Isle of Wight on Tunein”

The second option requires you to enable an Amazon Skill. For this see options 1 and 4, below.

1.    How to add skills to Alexa using your computer

·       Sign into your Amazon account.

·       Click this link to navigate to the “Alexa Skills” page on your Mac or PC.

·        Search for a skill using the search bar at the top of your screen. In our case the skill is “Sunshine Radio Isle of Wight”, without the quotes.

·       Select the “Sunshine Radio Isle of Wight” Skill

·       Click on the “Enable” button, which should then turn to “Disable Skill” as per the example below:

2.  How to add skills to Alexa using your mobile device

·       Open the Alexa app on your iPhone or Android and tap the menu icon at the top-left.

·       Open the top menu. 

·       Tap "Skills & Games" in the menu.

·        Tap the magnifying glass icon to

·        Search for the skill you want.

·       Browse or search for the skill you want to add. “Sunshine Radio Isle of Wight”

·        Select the skill, then, tap "ENABLE TO USE."

3.          How to add skills to Alexa using your Amazon Echo

Within range of your Amazon Echo, say "Alexa, enable…" and then state the name of the skill to be added.  For example: "Alexa, enable 'Sunshine Radio Isle of Wight' "

Not sure if this method works with the DOT.

4.          Setting up a PC/Laptop to run Alexa

·        Prerequisites: The PC/Laptop must be running Windows 10, and have a microphone.

·        Go to the Microsoft store, and download the Alexa app.

·        Install the app, making sure that “Hands Free” is set to on.

·        Make sure your Microphone is live.

·        Login to your Amazon account, and follow the instructions in item 1, to find and “Enable” the “Sunshine Radio Isle of Wight” skill.

·        You should now be able to play Sunshine Radio Isle of Wight, by giving the command “Alexa… play ‘Sunshine Radio Isle of Wight’”.

·First, your Windows 10 PC must have a microphone, either built in, or connected via a sound card or USB port.

·Go to the Microsoft Store, and download and install the Alexa app.

·Once installed go to the settings and make sure “Hands Free” is set to on.

·Login to your Amazon account, and follow the instructions as shown in item 1, to find and enable the skill.

·You should now be able to listen to Sunshine Radio by saying: “Alexa..Play Sunshine Radio Isle of Wight”
