How to Connect to Sunshine Radio IOW’s Internet stream

Our direct Stream URL is:https://stream.gointernet.co.uk:2000/public/SunshineRadio. Once you are on the page, click on the play symbol (the white circle with a blue triangle in the middle), and the stream will start.

To connect using the Music players on your PC. There are links to the supported players on our Home Page.

The URL for our internet stream is http://stream.gointernet.co.uk:8002/stream.m3u

When you click on the “Listen Live” button, this is the URL that you are directed to. However, not all devices are configured to understand the content which is returned by the stream, so some configuration may be required on your device/s in order to listen.

If you are unable to hear us then please check the following:

Windows 10

  • Go to Control Panel:
  • Click Start, then select search.
  • Type “Control Panel”, without the quotation marks.
  • The Control Panel app should appear.
  • Click on “Control Panel”, and the Control Panel should open.
  • In “Control Panel” select “Default Programs”, and then click on “Associate a file type or protocol to a program”.
  • In the “Default Apps”, scroll down until you see “Choose default Apps by File type”. Click on that link.
  • You should now see two columns. The left hand column is the file type, and the right hand column is the application which will run when that file type is selected.
  • Scroll down until you see “.m3u” in the “File Type” column.
  • When you have found it look at the right hand column. It should be “Windows Media Player”.
  • If there is another application, then click on the application and you should get a list of apps. Select “Windows Media Player”.
  • If however, it says “Choose a Default”, then click on the + sign and then select “Windows Media Player” from the list of apps shown.
  • You should now be able to play direct from the “Listen Live” link button.

Windows 7

  • Go to Control Panel:
  • Click Start, then select search.
  • Type “Control Panel”, without the quotation marks.
  • The Control Panel app should appear.
  • Click on “Control Panel”, and the Control Panel should open.
  • In “Control Panel” select “Default Programs”, and then click on “Associate a file type or protocol to a program”.
  • You should now see three columns. The left hand column is the Extension, the middle column is the Description and the right hand column is the Current Default application which will run when that file type is selected.
  • Scroll down until you see “.m3u” in the “File Type” column.
  • If there is another application, then  select the line with one click, and then click on the “Change” button at the top right of the window and you should get a list of applications. Select “Windows Media Player”.
  • You should now be able to play direct from the “Listen Live” link button.

Android, phone or Tablet

To play this type of stream on an Android device is different from that above.

  • There are two apps which have been tested, and they are “VLC”, and “Oplayer Lite”.
  • To get either, go to the Google Play store, download, and install either application.
  • Using your native Browser supplied with the device (not Firefox, Chrome, etc.). Navigate to the Sunshine Radio IOW web site and click on “Listen Live”.
  • You should then be asked which app to use, at which point you can select whichever of the two apps you downloaded earlier.

Or, to connect direct using  either, VLC, or Oplayer Lite:

  • Make sure you have installed either “VLC” or “Oplayer Lite

VLC:

  • Open the app.
  • Tap the three bar menu at the top left of the app.
  • From the menu select network stream.
  • Enter the URL http://stream.gointernet.co.uk:8002/stream.m3u
  • Finally, click GO on your keyboard and, if you are connected to the Internet then the station should start to play.

Oplayer Lite:

  • Open the app.
  • Tap the three bar menu at the top left of the app.
  • From the menu select network stream, and tap the + at the bottom right of the app page.
  • Enter the URL http://stream.gointernet.co.uk:8002/stream.m3u
  • Then enter a name e.g. “Sunshine Live”, of your choice.
  • Tap OK. If you are connected to the Internet, it should then start to play.

IPhone or IPad (not fully tested)

  • Depending on the version, “Listen Live” should work directly from the Safari browser.

If not, then:

  • Download Oplayer from the Apple Store, and install.
  • Open the app.
  • Tap the three bar menu at the top left of the app.
  • From the menu select network stream, and tap the + at the bottom right of the app page.
  • Enter the URL http://stream.gointernet.co.uk:8002/stream.m3u
  • Then enter a name e.g. “Sunshine Live”, or another of your choice.
  • Tap OK. If you are connected to the Internet, it should then start to play.

Amazon Kindle Fire

  • Only use the default browser “Silk”.
  • Download VLC from the Amazon AppStore and install.
  • Open the app, and follow the configuration process.
  • Using the Silk browser, go to http://www.sunshineradioiow.com, and select Listen Live. You will then be asked which application you wish to use.
  • Select VLC. If you are connected to the Internet, then the station should start to play.

Or, to play direct from VLC:

  • Tap the three bar menu at the top left of the app.
  • From the menu select network stream.
  • Enter the URL http://stream.gointernet.co.uk:8002/stream.m3u
  • Finally, click GO on your keyboard and, if you are connected, to the Internet then the station should start to play.

Amazon Echo or Dot

Just say "Alexa, Play Sunshine Radio Isle of Wight on Tunein"
